Seven years in the making—completed in Melbourne's 2021 pandemic lockdown, Through the Fire chronicles my harrowing first few years after immigrating from the US to Australia. I overcame devastating trauma and alienation, to then finally discover the transformative power of coming home...to a place I'd never been before.

Through the Fire comes out on my birthday, July 28. I am extremely proud of this project. I put, quite literally, thousands of hours into it...writing, arranging, producing, performing, recording, and mixing it on my own—with one exception...the last song on the record features a backing vocal performance by the wonderful Rose Parker (The Velvet Janes) recorded by Erin Devenish at the Ripple Room in Perth.

For a handful of years after arriving in Australia, I was excruciatingly alone—contending with life-threatening abuse & battling to hang on. Isolation became the norm for me...this was years before social distancing became all the rage, mind ya. At a certain point, touring became my only socially-connected activity. The rest of my time & energy was about healing from an incomprehensible, debilitating ordeal...and a huge part of that healing process was making this record. The album delves deeply into themes of trauma & abuse, resilience & triumph...and feeling the love, y'all.
